It’s Time for an Upgrade

Posted: February 15, 2012 in Uncategorized

In my lifetime it is amazing how far we have come with upgrades in technology.  I remember listening to records (33 & 45‘s) on a turntable.  I bet some of you don’t even know what I am talking about.  Hey I go way back, I remember 8 tracks, cassettes, walk mans, compact discs, and mp3 players.  There is no doubt that technology has continued to advance and upgrade.  One could even say as far as computers and phones they are in a daily upgrading process.  The truth be known the majority of us love the upgrades in new technology.

I would have never believed that I could have a phone which dictates what I say and email it in text form.  I no longer have to worry about typing errors or about my spelling.  My new friend siri does it all for me.  How cool is that?

Just as technology upgrades, our Lord and Savior Jesus came not only to save us but to upgrade us from our earthly restraints to empower us with supernatural spiritual ability to change us from the earthly boundaries we live in and to walk in heavenly spiritual realm in this world.  The problem is that a lot of us stop pressing on towards the goal and settle for the basics of spiritual life.  Paul says it best in Philippians 3:12-14, “Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

Now verse 15 adds a very exciting point and thought to what Paul has encouraged us to do in upgrading.  He states, “All of us who are mature should take such a view of things.”  So let me put it to you like this, aren’t you mature enough to allow God to move you spiritually in the upgrade He has for each of us.  You have received your notice and it is time for your upgrade.
