Enough is Enough

Have you ever asked yourself the question when is enough, enough?  You might think I am talking about the area of having enough stress, however I am not.  I am referring to the area of when is enough stuff, enough stuff.  We as Americans really struggle with this little equation.  We are so blessed yet we never feel that we are quite blessed enough.  Therefore we strive to get more earthly possessions rather than seeing clearly we have been blessed far beyond any earthly possessions.

Solomon who was one of the wisest and richest men who has ever lived came to the understanding that the riches of this life are meaningless because they come and go just as the seasons of time come and go.  Listen to Solomon’s practical counsel found in Ecclesiastes 6:1-6, “I have seen another evil under the sun, and it weighs heavily on mankind: 2God gives some people wealth, possessions and honor, so that  they lack nothing their hearts desire, but God does not grant them the ability to enjoy them, and strangers enjoy them instead. This is meaningless, a grievous evil.  3 A man may have a hundred children and live many years; yet no matter how long he lives, if he cannot enjoy his prosperity and does not receive proper burial, I say that a stillborn child is better off than he. 4 It comes without meaning, it departs in darkness, and in darkness its name is shrouded. 5 Though it never saw the sun or knew anything, it has more rest than does that man— 6 even if he lives a thousand years twice over but fails to enjoy his prosperity. Do not all go to the same place?

We are so blessed.  Not only has God blessed us with the gift of salvation but also the gift of sonship.  As Jesus is His Son, through him (Jesus) we become the Father’s sons and daughters.  Yes enough is enough.
